Novatech.com Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge

Every year, the Hungarian Association for Innovation in corporation with INTEL Co. announces the Novatech.com Innovation Technology Business Plan Competition as a part of the "Intel Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge" program.

Only business plans that make integral use of novel technology, such as technologies in the following industry categories, will be chosen to participate:
Semiconductors, Manufacturing, and Hardware,
Mobile and Wireless,
Digital Home and Consumer Electronics,
Retail and Consumer Software,
Enterprise Software and IT,
Energy and Power Generation,
Nanotechnology,
Biotechnology.

The competition is aiming to give students, alumni and local entrepreneurs the opportunity to work together to turn innovative ideas into successful businesses. Teams can enter the competition with 3-4 members. At least one of the members must be a university student or PhD student.

To the Hungarian jury, we invite notable businessman and venture capitalists who are practiced and active in the issues of the national innovation and enterprises.

The competition has four parts: in the first round, a short business plan conception has to be sent. After the pre-jurying, the contestants have to work out their business plans for moneyprizes. The third part is the Eastern European Regional Final, where the business plans must be successfully presented to the jury, constituted by the professionals of Intel.

The last part of the competition is the world final in Berkeley, California, USA. Here, the three winners and the special prize winners receive thousands of USDs. The first prize winner also got some offers from venture capitalists.

Novatech 1.0 Regional Final:
3rd prize: Ákos Kriston, Mihály Orosz, Róbert Molnár, József Miklósi (Icegel).
The Icegel technology can revolutionize the ice-cream and soft drink industry. By means of this technology, small CO2 molecules are locked in to nano-sized ice crystals, therefore this kind of composite is extremely loose but holds its shape.

Novatech 2.0 Regional Final:
2nd prize and participation in the world final: Attila Bérces, Zoltán Zinner, Chu Andrew and Ivan Bangov (Chemistry Logic).
The software of Chemistry Logic enables chemists to search interactively for chemically similar compounds in databases of ten millions to hundred millions compounds such as the commercially available compounds, internal compound archives, and patent databases. The software - implemented at integrated circuit level on reconfigurable computer chips or field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) - yields 100 times faster performance than the best CPU-based implementation of competitive products.
